MISSION STATEMENT

Lincoln Hills Bible Church is a church committed to Christ and His word. We are dedicated to sharing the love of Christ through ministry, fellowship, and worship. Our community seeks to have members and believers that come together to learn about the truth found in God's word, celebrate His love by loving others, and live out our faith by sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

The Scriptures
We believe in the Bible, that is, the 39 books of the Old Testament and 27 books of the New Testament are God's only wholly inspired, fully authoritative written revelation to mankind. The Bible is without error and trustworthy in all its teachings. God’s Word is the ultimate authority for leading us in faith and guiding us in all dimensions of individual, family, and church life. (1 Corinthians 2:12-15; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21)

God
We believe in one God, eternally existing as three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—the Trinity. (Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19; 1 Peter 1:2)

Jesus Christ
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, became man without ceasing to be God, having been conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. Christ’s death by crucifixion was a substitutionary sacrifice whereby He paid the exact penalty for people’s sin to remove one’s guilt and reconcile people with their Creator God. After a forty-day post-resurrection ministry He ascended into heaven where He sits in the place of honor at the right hand of God and intercedes for believers as our great High Priest and Head of the Church. He will return to earth again to establish His millennial kingdom. (Isaiah 53:5-6; Acts 1:3, 9; 1 Timothy 2:5-6; Hebrews 4:14-15; Revelation 19:11-20:3)

The Holy Spirit
We believe that the Holy Spirit indwells, baptizes, and seals all who believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. All believers are given spiritual gifts by the Spirit to be used for the building up of the Body of Christ – the Church.
(1 Corinthians 12:11, 13; Ephesians 1:13)

God As Creator & The Fall of Man
We believe God created mankind (male & female) in His image, though this image has been damaged because, through Adam’s sin, people acquired a sin nature which separated them from God and brought them under the sentence of death.
(Genesis 1:25-27, 2:16 -17; Romans 5:12)

Salvation
We believe in salvation solely based on grace through faith; that is, salvation is the gift of God offered to each person by grace and received by personal faith in the work of the Lord Jesus Christ. (Ephesians 2:8-9; Acts 16:31)

CORE VALUES

Lordship of Christ
Jesus is the head of Lincoln Hills Bible Church.  Belief in, and a relationship with, Jesus Christ is the only way to salvation, eternal life and understanding of Truth.  Living by His teachings and the teaching of the Bible is central to our understanding of being the church. We will work diligently at being submissive to His lead and direction in all matters. We will strive to live our lives in a manner that strengthens us and genuinely proclaims to others that Jesus is Lord. We will remember and teach often about His sacrifice and resurrection.

Bible-Centered Preaching & Teaching

What is taught in our classrooms and from the pulpit is Biblically based and accurate. We provide many Bible-centered avenues for people to grow deeply in their walk with Christ. Fostering discipleship is very important to us, including children, youth and adult ministries.

Prayer
We dedicate to provide many avenues for prayer. These will include corporate prayer gatherings, prayer groups, prayer chains, church-wide days of prayer / fasting and an attitude of consistently looking to God for direction and for His intervention in individual lives and in the life of the church.

Praise & Worship
We value an atmosphere of worship that is engaging, culturally relevant, biblical, and uplifting. Through our worship we seek to provide an enriching experience for all people through music, sharing together, giving and through practical teaching from the Word of God.

Godly Leadership
Realizing that we cannot accomplish what God desires for us to accomplish on our own, but that we must depend upon Him to provide the direction, resources and power to do it, we value and depend upon Godly leaders (1 Timothy 3) who will help discern God’s leading and vision for us and who will communicate well and often with the church body and stimulate the church for ministry and mission.

Outreach
Knowing that our Lord desires for us to be a church that reaches those who don't yet know Him (Matthew 28), we will continue to learn and grow in this area. We understand that each person at LHBC has a responsibility to witness to and to encourage non-believers. This will also incorporate a national and international mission focus.

Community
We will strive to be a church that incorporates people into the life of the church so that love, nurture and encouragement is consistently expressed to all who attend for as long as they attend. Intimate relationships which encourage personal and spiritual growth within the body are a hallmark of the kind of church we desire to be.

We seek to be a church that accepts people as they are, with the desire to help them to grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ. We also seek to re-envision ministries with new ideas that allow us to be relevant to our community and culture without compromising the message of the Gospel.

Although we recognize that opinions will differ on some issues, we welcome dialogue for decision-making. We highly value coming together in unity for ministry and progress.

Youth Ministries
We understand that today's youth will lead the church in the years to come and need a solid, enjoyable church experience to carry them forward. We provide relevant and appealing ministries for our youth where they can learn about the Christian faith and God's Word, and have opportunities for fun and fellowship with other youth.

Family Ministries
We value ministries that focus on family issues and provide husbands and wives with the tools to create and nurture a healthy family.  Senior adults are very important in our church body. Ministries that provide for their needs will be consistently provided.

Overall Ministry Values
We do not want to get caught in the trap of simply existing as a church. Instead, we seek God’s direction for a vital, growing, and healthy future. We desire for Christ-centered ministries grounded in scripture to equip and nurture believers to be effective in evangelism. We seek to do this through high quality, culturally relevant communication that is effective in helping everyone better understand the bible and grow in relationship with God.

WHAT DENOMINATION IS
LINCOLN HILLS BIBLE CHURCH?

Lincoln Hills belongs to the US conference of Mennonite Brethren churches. The core of our identity as Mennonite Brethren is belief in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. We believe in the one true God, the source of all life, who reigns over all things as Father, Son and Holy Spirit and who lovingly cares for all creation.

People through history have turned away from God, breaking the relationship God intended with us. In order to bring us back into a right relationship with God, God took on human nature in Jesus Christ, who revealed the fullness of God through his obedient and sinless life. Through word and deed Jesus proclaimed the reign of God, bringing good news to the poor, release to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind. Jesus Christ triumphed over sin through his death and resurrection and was exalted as Lord of creation and the church. His death and resurrection make it possible for us to be cleansed of sin, made whole as persons and brought back into right relationship with God. He invites all to be reconciled to God through Jesus Christ, offering peace with God and calling all to follow him in the way of humble and self-sacrificial living.

We find our guidance in the revealed Word of God in the Bible and through the guidance of the Holy Spirit of God in our lives. Mennonite Brethren place a high value and authority in the Bible as the Word of God, trying with all our strength and with the help of the Holy Spirit and fellow believers to conform all aspects of our lives to our understanding of biblical truths.
